If you ask Anthony Liam Fiddler at what point his eventual life pursuit of music came into focus he may not be able to specifically cite chapter and verse.

But growing up in a musical environment certainly helped establish early on where his path would lead.

“My mom is a classically-trained vocalist and my aunt is a classically-trained pianist,” says the

multiple BCCMA Nominee; including 2018 Recording Professional; Guitar Player; Producer and Studio of the Year.

“My brother, James Fiddler was a touring musician in a band called ‘the veer union’ – they were all big inspirations for me.

I started playing guitar at 10 and recording music at 15 - it was clear from that point that this is the direction that I wanted in my life.”

With a vast resume’ of performing in bands that traversed multiple genres, ranging in everything from Pop to Metal to Hip-Hop, the Vancouver-born musician gradually began to branch out; showcasing his inherent ability to produce many of the artists that he had gigged with along the way.

After graduating from Columbia Academy with a certificate in Sound Design and Recording in 2009, production and engineering became his primary focus.

“I found that I always enjoyed the performance but was also keenly interested in the process of creation of the music,” says fiddler, who spent time opening multiple tour dates for Shania twain and has worked with fellow Canadian country legend George canyon in his career.

While still providing session work for a variety of contemporary artists such as Wes Mack, Madeline Merlo, Chris Buck Band, Kadooh and The Heels, Fiddler is similarly adept producing and co-writing tracks for an equally impressive roster of artists.

Ranked among his numerous credits is the current Canadian country top 40 hit single, ‘Good ol’ days’ a song he co-wrote and co-produced for the Chris buck band.

“For me the challenge in producing quality material is finding out what will work for a particular song……it’s about trying new things to bring out the best for both the material and the artist.”

While 2019 was certainly a breakout year for Fiddler; 2020 saw him garner major accolades: ‘BCCMA Producer and Recording Professional of the year’; while earning a CCMA nomination for ‘Recording studio of the year’.

Recently, Nashville paved the way for a songwriting session that resulted in ‘Take the trailer’; for the Heels; collaborating with Nashville songwriter Troy Castellano, whose work includes placement on CMT, MTV and FOX among others.

In addition, Fiddler participated in the area’s weekly ‘Nash Up’ session while The Heels performed at the legendary bluebird café’.

While largely dedicated to the production side of the industry, fiddler still finds the time to moonlight with a host of notable performers on various side sessions including a frequent role in an 80’s rock project called ‘Powerhawk’, alongside Ryan stead, formerly of the latency.

Acquiring a network of contacts throughout his career, the reviews on fiddler and his artistry are absolutely glowing.

“Rarely do you meet someone for the first time and are immediately impressed with their talents and their personality.  It happened to me when I first met Anthony - he was accompanying a recording artist on a radio tour.  His guitar playing and harmonizing on both new and classic music blew me away.” - Randy Owen, Country 107.3, Tillsonburg, Ont.

It’s a delicate balance juggling both studio work and freelance gigs but as has been duly noted; if you enjoy your job you’ll never work a day in your life.

It’s a mantra Anthony Liam fiddler lives by.

“At Fiddler Productions I aspire to bring ideas to life,” he adds of his role and involvement as both producer and engineer.

“Collaboration in songwriting; it’s my job to hear a song’s potential and build that foundation to what will eventually be heard over the airwaves.”
